Kangaroo Island a Lonely Planet ‘ultimate’ travel spot

Kangaroo Island has claimed yet another international prize, now making a top-ten position in Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Australia Travel List, which ranks the top 500 unmissable experiences and hidden gems across Australia.

KI which is already locally known for its native bushland, wildlife, adventure, pristine beaches, spectacular landscapes and food and wine experiences has received a big boost from its inclusion in this list.
Ranked from 1 to 500, the Lonely Planet list covers “hidden gems” from every Aussie state and territory.
The South Australian region is listed among the best spots in the country, coming in at number eight behind experiences like Uluru in the Northern Territory, MONA in Tasmania, and the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland.
KI was hit by devastating bushfires at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, but has begun rebuilding and regrowing – and continues to claim international accolades.
